In Loving Memory
Cory Soles Foundation, Inc.
"Don't Sweat The Small Stuff--Life's Too Short"
Cory Soles Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization established in 2001 in loving memory of a wonderful 17-year old young man who was fatally injured as the result of a commercial lawnmower accident. I am the lucky woman who was chosen to have the amazing honor of being Cory's Mom.
The Foundation was established to keep Cory's memory and spirit alive by helping others who lose a loved one as well as making annual donations to Toys for Tots. We hope you will take some time and look at the information on our website. It will give you an idea of some of the things we have done in loving memory of our wonderful son, brother and friend.
Helping others in needs is truly what he would want us to do.
Your Donations at Work
The Foundation was primarily established to help others who lose a loved one. A donation is sent directly to the family to help with the expenses of paying the mortgage or light bill when you simply can't return to work. Or, maybe the family needs to get away for a weekend. Whatever it may be...it is totally up to the family as to what is done with the money--no two families are same or need the same thing when they are grieving.
Christmas was a joyous time for Cory and his family. Each year Cory would choose an angel from the Angel Tree and he would pick out something the child had asked for. He thought it was very sad that there were children who would be without during the holidays and always put a lot of thought into what he bought. That is why we have chosen to donate to Toys for Tots each Christmas. We have donated hundreds of toys during the past several years and know that Cory would want us to continue helping other children enjoy Christmas in his memory.
We are also committed to helping Baldwin Senior High School located in Baldwin, Florida. Since 2001, which would have been Cory's senior year of high school, the Foundation has provided scholarships to at least two seniors and, in some years, there have been four recipients. There is also a football and basketball award given to athletes who have the same qualities as Cory. The name of the award is the "Heart of Gold" award. Cory's basketball number was "3" and that number was retired in 2001. We will continue honoring and supporting the students at Baldwin High School in his memory.
